McGregor Chardonnay
Complex flavours of ripe fruit, pineapple with a characteristic of citrus contribute

Vineyard Detail:
Four wire extended trellised vines grafted on predominantly Richer 110. Planted on deep red and yellow Karoo-soil. Vines are on average about 10 years old and bell balanced on growth and yield. Controlled irrigation was given.

Vinification
Grapes were harvested in the morning. Ascorbic acid and SO2 were added during picking to preserve flavour and prevent oxidation. Grapes were crushed and mash-cooled before draining. Free run juice was settled overnight. Clear juice as inoculated with selected yeast to initiate fermentation. After a period of cold fermentation and a short lees contact period, the wine was racked and prepared for bottling

Alc: 13.0% vol Total Extract: 25.50 g/l R.S.: 4.28 g/l Free SO2: 50 mg/l
T.A.: 6.3 g/l Total SO2: 90 mg/l pH: 3.50 V.A.: 0.36 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
The wine had a bright yellow/green colour as can be expected from a full-bodied complex wine of this nature. The complex flavours of ripe fruit & pineapple with a characteristic hint of citrus, contribute to the fullness and freshness of this prominent wine

Served:
A wonderful companion for roast lamb and vegetables as well as fish and chicken dishes

 

McGregor Sauvignon Blanc
Light-bodied for early enjoyment with lime and tropical fruit flavours

Vineyard Detail:
Four wire trellised vineyards. 15 years of age, on dry, alluvial, sandy soil were selected. Only complimentary irrigation was given to improve quality. Irrigation was done on scientifically planned program. Vine grafted on 101/14 rootstock.

Vinification
Grapes were harvested in early morning while still cold (14°C). To preserve flavour, SO2 and ascorbic acid was added in the vineyard. After crushing, it was mash-cooled and further cooled during its 8-hour skin contact. The juice for fermentation with selected yeast, low fermentation and storage temperature, captures the flavours and freshness.

T.A.: 7.10 g/l Total SO2: 123 mg/l pH: 3.31 V.A.: 0.28 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
A slight green tint on this pale white wine expresses the freshness of youth of this wine. The harmonized blend of different wines produce a variety of flavours from tropical fruit to undertones of ripe fig and goosecherries. Leaving a pleasant and long refreshing aftertaste.

Served:
Serve between 10-12°C. Drink now while young as companion with shellfish, calamari or grilled fish. Delicate salmon and fresh trout as well as steamed asparagus complemented this wine.

 

McGregor Chenin Blanc
Lively prominent fruity guava and green herb flavours with a hint of lime

Vineyard Detail:
Selected vineyards with a history for good quality grapes. Trellised vines planted on Karoo-soil on the slopes. Grafted predominantly on Richter 99 and 101/14 rootstock. Irrigated on a scientifically planned irrigation program for quality improvement.

Vinification
Harvested in the morning to keep temperature lower. After destemming and crushing, it is cooled down to 15°C. Only free-run juice is used and left to settle overnight for clarification. Racking the clear juice to a fermentation tank where it's inoculated with selected yeast. Cold fermentation to capture flavours and freshness. After fermentation great care is taken to preserve flavours and freshness before bottling.

T.A.: 7.19 g/l Total SO2: 95 mg/l pH: 3.35 V.A.: 0.35 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
The freshness and youth is reflected in the greenish tint of the wine. The flavour is well in balance with the aroma and is crisp, clean & lingering on the aftertaste.

Served:
Serve between 8-11°C. Enjoy while young with smoked fish, spare ribs, barbecued chicken, mussels in garlic butter or on its own.

 

McGregor Colombard
Lovely guava and fruit flavours. Refreshing, easy-drinking wine

Vineyard Detail:
Specific vineyards were selected and treated according to optimum viticulture practices. Planted on deep alluvial and yellow soft Karoo-soil, grafted on Richter 99 rootstock. Vines are trellised on an extended trellised system.

Vinification
Grapes were destemmed, crushed and mash-cooled before draining. Free-run juice was settled overnight at low temperature. Clear juice was inoculated with selected yeast for cold fermentation. After fermentation the wine was racked before preparing for bottling.

Alc: 12.0% vol Total Extract: 19.7 g/l R.S.: 10.8 g/l Free SO2: 49 mg/l
T.A.: 7.3 g/l Total SO2: 105 mg/l pH: 3.06 V.A.: 0.15 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
Lovely fresh guava and fruit flavours from this green tinted, off-dry wine. The balance of fruit acid and sweetness bring out the flavours in harmony to create a refreshing easy drinking wine.

Served:
Serve between 10-12°C. A favourable companion to a wide range of cuisine like seafood, poultry and pork. Also an ideal sundowner with friends.

 

McGregor Colombard / Chardonnay
Fresh crisp flavours of guava and tropical fruit with a lingering aftertaste

Vineyard Detail:
Specially selected vineyards are optimally viticulturally treated to produce full-bodied, upfront fruit and well-balanced wine.

Vinification
Normal cellar procedure of crushing, cooling, fermentation and racking was used to bring out the best characteristics of each in harmony and marry to perfection.

Winemaker's Comment:
A brilliant youthful green colour with a slight yellow tint. Prominent flavours of guava and tropical fruit. The fresh crisp Colombard flavour is pleasantly supplemental by the fuller bodied Chardonnay to leave a lingering aftertaste.

Served:
Serve between 10-12°C. A wonderful companion for roast lamb and vegetables as well as fish and chicken dishes.
