McGregor Late Vintage Port
Deep Ruby hues hint at fruity freshness, backed by chocolate overtones

Family celebrations, fireside reveries, memorable meals. Good occasions to indulge in this late-bottled Cape Vintage Port.

Deep ruby hues hint at fruity freshness, backed by chocolate overtones.

Sip on its own, or with robust cheese, shortbread or fruitcake. Aged in sweet seclusion in French oak, this product of The McGregor Wine Company is a tribute to the historic village of its birth.

A port to pursue with a great deal of pleasure.

McGregor White Muscadel
Golden colour with well-intergrated peach, muscat and raisin flavours

Appellation:
McGregor (in the Robertson Valley of South Africa)

Vineyard Detail:
Selected vineyard was treated to optimum viticulture practices for the best quality grapes in terms of flavours for this fortified wine. Controlled and scientifically planned irrigation together with strict canopy management create the best conditions for high quality grapes.

Vinification:
Grapes were destemmed, crushed and mash-cooled. A 24-hour skin contact period was allowed for maximum flavour extraction. Regular pumpover every 3-4 hours. A selected yeast strain was used and fermentation on the skin took place. Free run juice and press juice were blended and immediately cooled down and fortified to stop fermentation. Racking and prepared for bottling.

Alc: 17.0% vol Total Extract: 224.7 g/l R.S.: 198.7 g/l Free SO2: 63 mg/l
T.A.: 5.24 g/l Total SO2: 175 mg/l pH: 3.14 V.A.: 0.3 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
Pale gold-coloured with a greenish tint with well-integrated peach, muscat and raisin flavours. Mouth filling, smooth and complex with a lingering sweet aftertaste.

Enjoy this wine after dinner or as a sundowner with crushed ice.

McGregor Red Muscadel
Light red, well-balanced with muscat

McGregor (in the Robertson Valley of South Africa)

Vineyard Detail:
Made from the oldest cultivar vineyard in the McGregor area. Therefore the vineyard is carefully treated and managed to assure the same quality grapes every year. The vineyard is planted on yellow soft Karoo-soil, grafted on Richter 99. This 20-year old vineyard is well balanced on growth and yield.

Vinification:
Grapes were destemmed, crushed and mash-cooled. The crushed grapes were kept overnight on the skin for maximum skin contact for colour and flavour extraction. Regular pumpover every 3-4 hours. Both free and press juice wer used and fortified up to 16% Vol alcohol. After fortification the wine was racked and prepared for bottling.

T.A.: 5.24 g/l Total SO2: 136 mg/l pH: 3.4 V.A.: 0.3 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
Brilliant light red colour emphasizes the youth and freshness. Well-balanced, muscat and perfume bouquet with a strong, delightful muscat on the palate and a pleasant, sweet aftertaste.

Enjoy this wine after dinner or as a sundowner with crushed ice.


McGregor Cape Ruby Port
Attractive true ruby red colour, rich in complex mint, chocolate and plum flavours

Appellation:
McGregor (in the Robertson Valley of South Africa)

Vineyard Detail:
Planted on red and yellowish Karoo-soil, grafted predominantly on 101/14 rootstock and trellised on an extended cordon system. Controlled and scientifically planned irrigation together with strict canopy management are applied to deliver high quality grapes and wine.

Vinification:
Ruby Cabernet grapes were used. Automatic pumpover during fermentation to extract maximum colour and flavour. Fermentation was stopped at a certain sugar level by fortification. The fermenting juice was separated from the skin and fortified up to a specific alcohol percentage. After one racking, the wine went to 225 l French oak barrels for 12 months barrel maturation.

T.A.: 5.0 g/l Total SO2: 137 mg/l pH: 3.69 V.A.: 0.28 g/l

Winemaker's Comment:
Attractive true ruby red colour, rich in complex ming, chocolate and plum flavours. Well integrated with oak maturation compounds. Satisfying mosaic of spirit and balanced sweetness on the finish.

Served:
Enjoy this wine after dinner. A wonderful companion over ice-cream with cashew nuts or with biscuits and cheese.
