At Louiesenhof we welcome visitors to our tasting room for sampling and purchasing our range of wines. To make your visit more enjoyable light lunches are served during the end-of-year season.
A comfortable tasting area and wide patio give relaxed comfort and natural beauty in a pleasant garden setting, just the right environment in which to taste and enjoy our range of wines. Linger a while and savour some of the best - wines, views and atmosphere - that the Cape has to offer.
From the patio of our tasting room, you can absorb the panoramic mountain views of the Simonsberg and other Stellenbosch mountains. In this atmosphere, the rush of modern life fades far into the distance. Ideal for relaxing are a luxury suite and a bathroom with walk-in jacuzzi set in a balau deck.
In producing his wines, owner and winemaker Stefan Smit’s aim is to work ‘in harmony with nature, with as little tampering as possible’. This is made possible by the varied terroirs here, which allow him to cultivate the most suitable cultivars and to implement sustainable cultivation practices.
Apart from wines, Stefan produces a unique style of port called Perroquet Cape Tawny and, since acquiring a beautiful, historic distilling kettle, he has begun distilling a connoisseur’s sipping brandy.
A member of the Bottelary Conservancy, Louiesenhof is involved in efforts to preserve endangered fynbos and other rare plant species here, and to clear alien plants.
